Various diving schools operate direct from the beach, most located in Sosua Beach`s parking area. Snorkeling is a must do while visiting this town, and one of the top places for it is Sosua Beach, which is part of a natural bay of golden sand rimmed turquoise waters where colorful tropical fish are a delight to watch in the reef. Most diving centers also include snorkeling, and it can be reserved from boat rentals and some beach stores.

Most fishing tours sail twice a day, from 8am-1pm or 130pm-6pm and can be booked via the concierge at SBP. Yacht sailing is also an activity that is reserved with the fishing yachts available in Sosua.
Zip lining is another attraction that is enjoyed by many, and Monkey Jungle offers just that plus an active monkey reserve where visitors can feed them and take awesome photos. it is located on a large mountain side area called El Choco, about a 30 minute drive from the center of town. The park also serves as a community hospital where a charity organization provides free medical support to locals, so be sure to use their services to help fund someone else`s medical needs.
Another important and the oldest zip lining tour in the area is Yasika Adventures. They are located in Yasica, Puerto Plata and have an impressive zip lining operation complete with 8 cables, 10 platforms, heights of up to 300 meters and speeds up to 30 mph with spectacular views.
For those who like to swim with the dolphins, feed tropical birds or even enjoy casino or disco nights in a very relaxed atmosphere, Ocean World is the place to be. It even includes a marina for luxury yachts and is the top attraction of its kind in the Dominican Republic. The bravissimo show is a special show not to be missed.
Other interesting activities near Sosua are the Caves of El Choco, a natural park reserve where the caves have underground water pools. ATV tours through Montellano`s cane fields take the off road adventurers into local Dominican country side places. Horseback riding on the beach and mountain paths are also available both in Sosua and Cabarete.
Pro Golfing in Playa Grande and Playa Dorada bring the game to a higher level with its beautiful ocean front scenery. Tee time can be booked same day, with rental of shoes and golf clubs available on site. Playa Dorada is part of a large beach front complex located in Puerto Plata, about a 20 minute drive from Sosua. Playa Grande is part of Rio San Juan, about 1 hour away but worth the trip ( it`s a Robert Trent Jones design ).
There are also tours to the country side in monster trucks, going through rivers and mountains. The city of Puerto Plata offers a historical trip back to its history as the first Spanish settlement in the Americas ( Columbus landed here in October 12th, 1492 ). The main Cathedral and the old district of San Felipe are an interesting sight, as well as the gingerbread homes still intact.
