Puerto Plata Golf Classic

Golfing is one of the top attractions in Puerto Plata, given its splendid ocean front course in Playa Dorada and neighboring Playa Grande. During the DR Golf Travel Exchange event, the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism Companies of the North Coast ( ASHONORTE ) presented the third edition of the Puerto Plata Classic golf tournament, and was held on November 15th, 2015.

After its first two editions, the tournament has quickly risen to preference among local golfers and foreign players, who enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Playa Dorada golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones in 1976. This ocean shore course has 18 holes, with number 4 being the most challenging one ( and longest ).

Tee times being at 7:00am until 6:30pm, and there is available cart, shoes and clubs rental. golf courses length is Blue 6,730, White 6,302, and Red 5,361 yards. The sloping land makes for a very attractive and enjoyable experience. The slope rating is is White 130, Blue 134 and Red 120. The exceptional greens of this par 72 course are surrounded by a complex of more than a dozen resorts within the Playa Dorada beach resort complex.

The organizers said that the event aims to promote Puerto Plata as a golf destination while raising funds for the cultural program Smile Puerto Plata, directed to raise awareness about the importance of tourism and the role of citizens for sustainability over time.
