Dominican Republic Jazz Festival

The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is the top annual event where jazz lovers gather to enjoy the local and international performers of this connoisseur genre. The 2015 ( 19th ) edition was no exception, and featured the voices and instruments of local legends such as Manuel Tejada, Guarionex Aquino, and Patricia Pereyra.

Since its inception, the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival has presented internationally renowned Latin Grammy and Grammy Award winning musicians such as Ignacio Berroa, Joe Lovano, Chuck Mangione, Ray Baretto, Néstor Torres, Chucho Valdés, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez and Arturo Sandoval.

The 2015 edition of the jazz festival had a 4-night schedule starting on November 4th in the Centro Leon of Santiago, DR; with the performances of The Big Band Conservatory of Santo Domingo and The Student Loan Stringband.  On Thursday, November 5th the scenario moved to the amphitheater of Casa Marina in Sosua for the presentation of The Big Band Conservatory of Santo Domingo, and Israeli musician, Roy Assaf.

Friday November 6th Puerto Plata becomes the center stage for the performances of Manuel Tejada and the Berklee Global Jazz Institute Student Group.  on November 7th, the scenario moved to Cabarete beach, where Josean Jacobo delivered one of the best performances of the festival. North American three-time Grammy Award winning John Patitucci took over the night with his jazz fusion.

The final night was on November 9th, also in Cabarete beach with performances by Pengbian Sang Retro Jazz band, virtuoso pianist Mario Canonge and the Pedro Martinez Group. Media property of DR Jazz Festival, by Felix Corona and Video Pro.
